Our mission

Why the Bangladesh Center for International Law exists and what guides our work.

Mission

BCIL’s mission is to advance research, advocacy and education in international law in Bangladesh, and to develop international lawyers who can represent the country’s interests and values with skill and integrity.

Bangladesh sits at the centre of some of the most important questions in international law today: climate-induced displacement, the Rohingya crisis, maritime boundaries, LDC graduation and accountability for atrocity crimes. We believe Bangladeshi scholars and practitioners should be leading these conversations.

Vision

To advance Bangladesh’s voice in shaping international legal norms.

What guides us

Independence

We are non-profit and non-partisan. Our conclusions follow the evidence and the law.

Rigour

We hold our research and training to the standards of the best international institutions.

We open doors for students and young lawyers who might not otherwise reach international legal work.
